Polyvinylalkoholprodukte waren ursprünglich Rohstoffe für die Herstellung von Vinylon, aber als die Vinylonpflanze verblasste, wurden alle Polyvinylalkoholprodukte exportiert. Das Polyvinylalkoholgerät wurde in den 1970er Jahren von der japanischen Firma Kolli eingeführt. Unter Verwendung von Ethylen, Sauerstoff und Essigsäure als Rohstoffe wird Ethylenacetat (Vinylacetat) unter der Wirkung eines Katalysators oxidiert, um Polyvinylalkohol zu produzieren, das dann polymerisiert ist, und mit niedriger Alkalyse -Alkoholyse zur Herstellung von Polyvinylalkohol.
